Club Med Reaffirms Commitment to Seychelles Tourism Growth in State House Meeting

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Club Med has reaffirmed its continued commitment to Seychelles during a meeting between President Patrick Herminie and Gino Andreetta, global deputy chief executive and chief executive of Club Med Europe, Middle East, Africa, Indian Ocean, and French West Indies, held at State House. Club Med’s commitment to Seychelles was underscored as Mr Andreetta congratulated the President on his recent election and discussed creating value for the country, visitors, and the people of Seychelles.

Club Med, a global hospitality company with 46 resorts and 40 offices worldwide, maintains a strong global marketing presence. Its Seychelles property on Ste Anne Island continues to perform well, recording occupancy levels of over 70 percent. The resort currently employs around 400 local staff, including 20 Seychellois working in different Club Med resorts globally, and outsources food and services from the local community.

President Herminie discussed key areas that could further enhance Seychelles’ appeal as a tourism destination. He emphasised the country’s visa-free access and explored how the government can better support industry stakeholders to attract increased visitor numbers and strengthen the sector. The delegates further discussed topics on connectivity, marketing, and prices.

Club Med Seychelles welcomed its first guest on March 29, 2021, following delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with 295 rooms located on Ste Anne Island. Both delegates agreed to work together to help grow the tourism industry, given that it remains one of the main pillars of the Seychelles economy.

The meeting reinforces the strong partnership between Club Med and Seychelles as both parties work to promote sustainable tourism growth and local economic benefits through the hospitality sector. The property continues to demonstrate the viability of luxury eco-tourism in the Seychelles market.

Club Med’s continued confidence in Seychelles signals positive prospects for the tourism sector.
