French Embassy and Ministry Host Blue Talk on Unlocking Emerging Sectors of Blue Economy

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The French embassy in Seychelles, in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and the Blue Economy, organised a Blue Talk under the theme ‘Unlocking Emerging Sectors of the Seychelles Blue Economy’ on Thursday at the L’Escale Resort. Over 20 participants attended the discussion.

The ambassador of France to Seychelles, Anne Tallineau, noted that France and Seychelles share a common objective, which is to reflect on and strengthen a sustainable, innovative and inclusive blue economy. She said Seychelles is recognised as a pioneering country in the field. The blue economy encompasses all economic activities linked to marine and aquatic resources, promoting their sustainable use in order to reconcile economic growth with the protection of marine ecosystems.

Ambassador Tallineau added that, in a context of increasing vulnerability of coastal areas, the urgency of integrated maritime planning is more evident than ever, and that the challenge must be addressed collectively. The event forms part of ongoing cooperation between France and Seychelles on ocean governance.
