Thirty-Two Families Receive Keys at Coastal Breeze Residence Handover

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The handover of keys to 32 new homeowners at Coastal Breeze Residence on Friday marks a milestone in Seychelles’ ongoing effort to broaden access to home ownership through mid-range condominium developments. Located in Île Perseverance, the project brings to completion the first mid-range condominium scheme built under a housing model that targets families who do not qualify for social housing but find entry into the traditional market difficult.

The residences form part of a wider national housing strategy which combines social housing, low-cost schemes, and now mid-range condominiums to address the diverse needs of the population. Authorities say the approach is designed to ease pressure on the rental market, while also giving Seychellois families a realistic path to ownership in well-located neighbourhoods with proper infrastructure.

Beneficiaries, many of whom have waited years for their own homes, expressed relief and gratitude at the handover. Officials reminded them of the importance of maintaining their units and contributing to a well-kept community, and said future phases of condominium construction are being planned, with lessons from Coastal Breeze Residence informing design, pricing, and allocation criteria for upcoming projects in other parts of Mahé.
