Seychelles Blue Economy Department Marks 10 Years With Anniversary Bazaar

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Department of Blue Economy is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a special bazaar, to be held on Saturday July 19 at the Beau Vallon regatta site from 9.30am. The director of the department, Terence Crea, unveiled the activities during a press conference held yesterday at the department’s headquarters at Maison Collet, Victoria.

The bazaar, themed ‘Decade of Impact’, will bring together stakeholders, innovators and community enterprises shaping Seychelles’ maritime and aquatic sectors. It will feature the sale of fresh fish, on-site job applications, kids’ activities, and a fiesta with a line-up of local artists and deejays. The event is intended as a public-friendly introduction to the blue economy and its contribution to national development.

Senior monitoring and evaluation officer Gabriella Gonthier said the bazaar will also give the public a chance to engage directly with department staff, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the sector. There will also be a simulation exercise carried out by the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority. The department was set up a decade ago to coordinate the sustainable development of Seychelles’ ocean economy.
