VICTORIA, Seychelles — Members of Seychelles People’s National Movement, along with opposition parties and independent candidates, have continued their engagement with the Electoral Commission (SFA) on concerns related to the upcoming presidential and legislative elections. Politicians and concerned citizens have called for clarity on the registration process and on the systems in place.
Florie Benstrong, a politician, said the people they would represent have expressed their intention to stop coming forward, citing concerns about the rules in place. In attendance were members of the National Assembly who noted that they had received several concerns from constituents and that they were committed to channelling them through the relevant parliamentary platforms.
The debate around electoral reform is expected to intensify in the lead-up to the elections, with civil society organisations also weighing in. The Electoral Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, in line with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.
