SRC Launches NextGen Mentorship Programme for Young Tax Professionals

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) on Tuesday launched its NextGen mentorship programme during a small ceremony held at its headquarters. The programme, which will run for twelve months, is designed to provide young professionals with a deeper understanding of the evolving tax and customs environment.

According to the SRC, the programme aims to optimise internal operations and revenue resilience and transparency when faced with organisational culture, and technology with empowerment, and participation. The six NextGen participants, who were selected following a rigorous selection process, will be mentored by senior SRC officials, with a focus on tax administration, customs operations, and revenue policy.

The SRC said the initiative was part of a broader strategy to build local capacity in tax and customs administration, and to prepare the next generation of Seychellois professionals to take on senior roles in the commission. Each NextGen fellow will undertake a project addressing a key component of the SRC’s work, the results of which will be presented to the commission’s leadership at the end of the programme. The commission said it intends to expand the programme in subsequent years, subject to funding and the availability of mentors.
