VICTORIA, Seychelles — Ralph Gerald Volcère, a 64-year-old seasoned journalist and passionate advocate for justice, has officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for September 27, 2025. He will run as an independent candidate.
No stranger to the political arena, Mr Volcère has actively participated in every election since the reintroduction of multi-party democracy in 1993. His enduring commitment to Seychelles’ progress emphasises his deep understanding of the nation’s challenges and aspirations. Speaking about his candidacy, Mr Volcère highlighted the urgent need for transformative leadership to steer the nation out of its current difficulties.
“Seychelles needs a president who has the conviction and courage to lead this nation out of the present predicament. Under the current leadership, our nation has lost its pride — a pride we must work tirelessly to reclaim. Together, we can restore hope and dignity to our people,” he declared. His campaign is expected to focus on key issues including justice, national pride, and socio-economic stability. His vision is grounded in transparency, accountability, and national unity.
