Three New District Administrators Take Up Posts

VICTORIA, Seychelles, The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs has announced the appointment of three new district administrators (DAs) who have taken up their roles in Beau Vallon, Grand Anse Mahé and Pointe Larue. They are Mirenda Cardovillis, Valdana Sultan and Nadine Ah-Kon respectively. The new appointees bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their positions, and their appointments mark a significant step forward in the ministry’s commitment to effective governance and community development. The three districts are among the most populous on Mahé and play an important role in the delivery of public services.

Mirenda Cardovillis has assumed the role of district administrator for Beau Vallon. She holds a Certificate in Emergency Care Assistance with a diverse career background, including roles as an Emergency Care Assistant, cabin crew member at Air Seychelles, and business representative at Savannah Gold Ltd based in Kenya. Her strong ties to the community and her involvement in various initiatives in her home district, Bel Ombre, have proven her dedication to serving the community. Her appointment took effect on January 1, 2024.

Valdana Sultan now serves as the district administrator for Grand Anse Mahé. She holds a Diploma 1 and 2 in Education for Middle and Upper Primary and has dedicated her career to education. Before her appointment as DA, she served as the deputy head teacher for studies at Pointe Larue primary school. Her experience also includes work as a part-time tutor at the Seychelles Institute for Teacher Education. Ms Sultan’s appointment took effect on February 1, 2024, and her background in education is expected to be an asset in her new role.

Nadine Ah-Kon has been appointed as the new district administrator for Pointe Larue. Holding a BSc in Business Information Systems from the University of Bolton, UK, Ms Ah-Kon brings a blend of academic excellence and practical experience to her role. Her previous positions as a lecturer at the Ministry of Education, manager of Cargo Sales Development at Air Seychelles, and manager of Hospital Support Services at the Health Care Agency underscore her versatility and leadership capabilities. Her appointment took effect on February 1, 2024.

The ministry has congratulated Mrs Cardovillis, Ms Sultan, and Mrs Ah-Kon on their appointments and looks forward to their contributions towards the continued progress and development of their respective districts. The new administrators are expected to work closely with elected members of the National Assembly, district committees and community organisations to deliver on local priorities. The ministry said it will provide the necessary support and resources to enable the administrators to perform their duties effectively.
