Starlink Internet Service Incorporated Locally Ahead of Seychelles Market Launch

VICTORIA, Seychelles Starlink, the satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX, has been incorporated locally and is set to launch services in Seychelles imminently, according to Vice President Ahmed Afif during an address in the National Assembly.

The incorporation marks a significant milestone in Seychelles telecommunications infrastructure development. The Starlink licence was granted to provide satellite-based internet connectivity, offering an alternative to traditional terrestrial broadband services and potentially improving connectivity in remote areas of the archipelago.

The Vice President noted that Starlink services would bring high-speed, low-latency internet access to Seychelles residents, businesses and institutions, complementing existing infrastructure while providing resilience through satellite redundancy.

The development represents continued investment in Seychelles digital infrastructure and aligns with government efforts to expand internet access across the islands. Starlink low-earth orbit satellites operate at altitudes that enable faster response times compared to traditional geostationary satellite services.

The local incorporation ensures regulatory compliance and establishes a framework for consumer protection, quality standards and accountability within the Seychelles telecommunications sector.

The imminent launch of Starlink services is expected to enhance competition in the internet service provider market and provide consumers with additional options for connectivity.
