Schools Launch Young Entrepreneurs Programme for Student Innovation

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A new Young Entrepreneurs programme has been launched in schools across Seychelles, aiming to nurture innovation, business skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset among students. The programme introduces young people to the fundamentals of starting and running a business, with a strong emphasis on creativity, problem-solving, and community engagement.

The initiative includes classroom-based learning, mentorship from established business owners, and the opportunity for students to develop and pitch their own business ideas. According to the Ministry of Education, the programme is designed to complement the existing curriculum and to expose students to real-world applications of mathematics, science, and communication skills. Participating schools have welcomed the programme as a valuable addition to their extra-curricular offerings.

According to programme coordinators, the Young Entrepreneurs initiative draws on successful models from other small island states and has been adapted to reflect the unique economic context of Seychelles. Students will learn about business planning, financial management, marketing, and customer service. The programme also includes sessions on ethical business practices, environmental responsibility, and the importance of contributing to local economic development.

The first cohort of students is expected to complete the initial programme by the end of the academic year, with a showcase event planned to celebrate their achievements. Officials said the long-term goal is to embed entrepreneurship education across all secondary schools and to create a pipeline of young people equipped to launch their own ventures. The programme is supported by public and private sector partners committed to youth economic empowerment.
