First Poland-Indian Ocean Tech Forum Opens New Cooperation Avenues With Seychelles
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The inaugural Poland-Indian Ocean Tech and Services Forum convened yesterday at Savoy Seychelles Resort and Spa, gathering government representatives, business leaders, and international partners to explore collaboration in technology, innovation, tourism, infrastructure, and investment.
Organised by the Embassy of Poland in Nairobi and honorary consul Ewa Ossowska, the forum underscored shared objectives of strengthening Poland’s partnership with the Indian Ocean region, particularly Seychelles, through technology, services, investment, and sustainable development. Indian Ocean region chargé d’affaires Marcin Kubiak delivered opening remarks.
Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Oliver Bastienne highlighted pivotal global economic transformation and the necessity for small island economies to remain agile, innovative, and globally connected. He outlined economic diversification, digital transformation, and Blue Economy as priority areas for Seychelles-Poland cooperation.
Mrs. Ossowska stressed that unstable global environments require nations to avoid protectionism and pursue creative proactive partnerships. The forum yielded concrete commitment to deepen cooperation in key sectors including skills transfer, innovation, sustainable growth, and economic resilience.
Participants explored opportunities in digital payments, fintech, cybersecurity, smart systems, connectivity, marine innovation, aquaculture, maritime services, and climate resilience. The event concludes with shared commitment to long-term partnership built on investment, innovation, and cooperation.
Secretary of State for Fisheries and the Blue Economy Alain De Comarmond noted the forum provides an important platform for Seychelles to explore new opportunities and strengthen collaboration with European partners.
