Ministry Signs Tourism Education Partnership With La Réunion Academy

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Ministry of Tourism and Culture has signed a partnership agreement with the Académie de La Réunion to prepare the next generation of Seychellois tourism and hospitality professionals. The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by senior ministry officials, academy representatives, and industry leaders from across the tourism sector.

The partnership will enable Seychellois students to access specialised training programmes in hospitality management, culinary arts, and tourism marketing, with opportunities for exchange visits and joint certifications. According to ministry officials, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to raising professional standards in the Indian Ocean tourism industry. The academy has a strong reputation for excellence in French-language hospitality education.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the agreement builds on existing educational cooperation between Seychelles and the French overseas territory. The partnership will include joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and the development of training materials tailored to the unique characteristics of small island tourism. Students will benefit from exposure to international best practices while maintaining a strong connection to local culture and heritage.

The first cohort of students is expected to begin the programme later this year, with selection based on academic performance and demonstrated interest in the tourism sector. The ministry has emphasised that the partnership represents a long-term investment in human capital development for one of the country’s most important economic sectors. Additional partnerships with other international institutions are being explored to broaden training opportunities.
