Seychelles Launches Digital School Initiative to Transform Primary Education

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles has taken a bold step toward transforming its education system with the launch of the Digital School Initiative, a forward-thinking programme aimed at integrating technology into teaching and learning nationwide. The Seychelles Digital School Initiative is led by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development in partnership with the Digital School Programme of the United Arab Emirates, representing a comprehensive national effort to strengthen digital education at the primary level.

The initiative is designed to build teacher capacity, improve learning outcomes, and prepare Seychellois students for an increasingly digital world. By partnering with the UAE’s Digital School Programme, Seychelles gains access to proven methodologies, digital resources, and technical expertise that have been successfully implemented in other countries.

Primary school teachers will receive training in digital pedagogy, enabling them to effectively integrate technology into their classrooms. The programme will provide students with access to digital learning materials, interactive content, and personalised learning pathways that can adapt to individual student needs and pace of learning.

The Digital School Initiative aligns with Seychelles’ National Development Strategy and the Ministry of Education’s strategic plan for 2025-2029, which prioritises holistic learner development and equitable quality education. The partnership with the UAE represents a growing collaboration between Seychelles and the Emirates in the education sector.

Technology integration in education is expected to help bridge learning gaps, enhance student engagement, and prepare young Seychellois for the demands of the 21st century workforce. The initiative will be rolled out in phases, starting with pilot schools before expanding nationwide.

Seychelles’ Digital School Initiative marks a significant milestone in modernising the country’s education system.
