Human Rights Commission Calls for Greater Public Awareness Amidst Systemic Challenges

The chairperson of the Seychelles Human Rights Commission, Justice Bernadin Renaud, stated that more needs to be done to educate the public on the role and mandate of the commission. He presented the 2025 annual report to President Patrick Herminie at State House yesterday morning. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the commission’s work over the past year, outlining key cases handled, systemic challenges, and recommendations needed to strengthen the protection and promotion of human rights across the country. Justice Renaud emphasised that the commission is not a non-governmental organisation or an advocacy agency, but a constitutional body tasked with upholding human rights.
