Top student Erin Padayachy honoured with President’s Cup.

In a proud highlight of the Independent School A-Level graduation ceremony, Erin Padayachy was presented with the prestigious President’s Cup by the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, recognising her as the Best Overall Performer of the Class of 2025.

The ceremony, held at the Ile Du Port campus, brought together graduates, parents, educators and invited guests in a celebration of academic excellence, perseverance and student leadership. The President was accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Veronique Herminie.

The President’s Cup is awarded to the student who demonstrates outstanding academic performance, strong adherence to the school’s values, active participation in school and national activities, and exemplary conduct.

Padayachy, a committed student leader, reflected on her journey, noting that her involvement in committees and community initiatives played a significant role in shaping her leadership and reinforcing the importance of student engagement.

The ceremony also saw Ruhi Sree Pandu Rangan named Valedictorian and recipient of the Medal of Honour, awarded to the highest achieving student. She further distinguished herself by receiving the excellence award for Biology.

Other students recognised for subject excellence included Sudarshan Sasikumar for Chemistry, Bijoux Searles for History, Reuben Reddy for Mathematics, Benjamin Gonzalves for Physics, Isabella Padayachy for Literature and joint first place in Business, and Elle Wirtz for Business, Computer Science and Geography.

Addressing the graduates, Executive Principal of the school, Mr Andy Esparon, emphasised the central role of education in shaping both individual futures and the nation’s development.

“Everything we do must place education at the centre of our priorities. Investing in education is investing in the future of our nation,” he said. He noted that graduates are entering a world marked by both opportunity and uncertainty, encouraging them to remain resilient and forward looking.

“The world you are stepping into is one filled with both opportunity and uncertainty. The future may not always be predictable, but it is precisely this uncertainty that makes it full of potential,” he stated.

Mr Esparon further urged graduates to remain adaptable in the face of challenges.

“In moments when plans change and the path forward seems unclear, what will carry you through is your ability to adapt, to stay focused, and to keep moving forward with determination,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of values, he reminded the students that success goes beyond academic achievement.

“Your future will not only be defined by your achievements, but by your character, your values and the choices you make. Never underestimate the power of doing the right thing, even when no one is watching,” stated.

The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates, student performances, and a vote of thanks delivered by the Valedictorian, marking both a celebration of achievement and a transition toward new opportunities for the Class of 2025.
