The Office of the President has today announced the appointment of Mrs. Josy Ita Michaud-Payet as the Mayor of Victoria, effective 1st March 2026.
Mrs. Michaud-Payet brings to the position a distinguished career spanning over four decades in communications, public relations, and community engagement. She has served in senior roles with the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, Air Seychelles, the Ministry of Health, and the Seychelles Petroleum Company, where she played a pivotal role in strengthening institutional communications, building stakeholder relationships, and promoting national initiatives. Her extensive experience in public relations, corporate communications, and community outreach has earned her recognition as a respected communications professional in Seychelles.
Mrs. Michaud-Payet has also demonstrated a strong commitment to public service and community development. She is the founder of the Cancer Concern Association and has been actively involved in national and community initiatives, including her role as Vice-Chairperson of the Seychelles Chapter of the African Women’s Leaders Network and her involvement with the Women of Seychelles Inspiring Transformative Actions Foundation. Her longstanding engagement in civic and cultural activities reflects her deep dedication to the welfare of the Seychellois people and the promotion of national heritage.
As Mayor of Victoria, Mrs. Michaud-Payet will be responsible for supporting the development and promotion of the capital, strengthening community engagement, preserving its cultural and historical identity, and enhancing Victoria’s role as a vibrant civic, cultural, and economic centre.
Mrs Michaud-Payet’s appointment was made following a process of application and interviews conducted by the National Assembly Victoria Districts Association, which was unable to reach consensus on the final three nominations.
