Absa Bank Seychelles honours fire and rescue services with appliance donation

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Providence Branch Team of Absa Bank Seychelles has launched a meaningful initiative to honour and support the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA), recognising the team that stood bravely at the forefront of the December 7 disaster two years ago and continues to protect the Providence community from frequent fires.

As part of the initiative, the Absa Providence Branch Team donated a selection of household appliances to the SFRSA, recognising the demanding nature of their work and the long hours spent at fire stations. The contribution aims to bring added comfort and practical support to officers who often treat the stations as a second home.

Beyond the donation, the Absa team chose to give back through action. In a gesture of solidarity and volunteerism, colleagues personally provided cleaning services for the fire trucks, ensuring the vehicles that answer emergency calls across the country are cared for and ready for service. The hands-on activity reflected the team’s desire not only to give, but to stand alongside the firefighters in a tangible and meaningful way.

“Our firefighters are more than first responders; they are pillars of the community. Through our Force for Good programme, supporting SFRSA was a natural choice,” said Marie-Paule Samson, head of marketing and corporate affairs at Absa Bank Seychelles. SFRSA assistant section leader Nelson Emile expressed gratitude and noted that initiatives like this remind firefighters that their efforts are recognised and valued.
