First Lady and Health Minister Bring Christmas Cheer to Hospital Patients

VICTORIA, Seychelles — First Lady Véronique Herminie, joined by Vice-President’s wife Linda Pillay, Health Minister Dr Marvin Fanny, and senior officials from the Ministry of Health, paid their traditional festive visit to the Seychelles Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The annual tour began in the paediatric ward and continued through the maternity, female, Hermitte, male surgical, and male medical wards. Its purpose was to bring joy and compassion to patients spending the holiday season away from loved ones.

Throughout the rounds, the First Lady greeted patients personally, offering words of comfort and encouragement. Children received small gifts, while adult patients were presented with vouchers as tokens of care and support. The initiative was warmly welcomed by patients and staff, reinforcing the values of compassion, solidarity, and togetherness that Christmas embodies.

Speaking to the media, Mrs Herminie stressed the importance of remembering those facing difficulties during this time of year. ‘It’s not everyone who celebrates Christmas, but during this season when we are supposed to be happy, we need to remember people who are going through difficulties,’ she noted. Health Minister Dr Fanny echoed her sentiments, marking his first hospital visit since taking office.
