Police Launch Year-Round Arrive Alive Campaign with Forum for Road Victims’ Families

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Police Force has adopted a more humanitarian approach to its Arrive Alive campaign for 2025 and 2026, with the aim of enhancing the promotion of responsible driving and raising awareness about road safety. The official launch was carried out by Commissioner of Police Ted Barbe on Wednesday morning at the Reflects Centre in Bois de Rose Avenue.

The launch was followed by a forum that gathered families and friends who have experienced the loss of loved ones through fatal accidents, along with police officers from various units who have responded to such incidents. Sub Inspector Julinio Nourrice said the campaign and the forum are designed to engage more deeply with the public, gain a better understanding of how to enhance road-safety promotion, and to hear the perspectives of those most affected.

During a presentation, statistics for road traffic accidents for 2024 and 2025 were disclosed. In 2024, a total of 2,927 accident cases were documented, including nine fatal cases, 89 scooter accidents, and 71 motorcycle accidents. For 2025, a total of 2,677 cases have been recorded so far, comprising 67 motorcycle accidents and 80 scooter accidents, with the analysis highlighting the need for a sustained, year-round approach.
