VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles has launched a national humanitarian appeal calling on citizens, businesses, organisations, and partners to support Sri Lanka following the catastrophic Cyclone Ditwah that recently struck the country, claiming hundreds of lives and displacing thousands.
The appeal was officially launched during a joint briefing hosted and led by the Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands, Eveline Rose, in the presence of the acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Seychelles, Manisha Perera, government officials, humanitarian partners, and members of the Sri Lankan community in Seychelles.
Minister Rose said the appeal reflects the deep solidarity between the two nations and the shared experience of small island states in confronting natural disasters. She urged Seychellois from all walks of life to contribute to the relief effort, noting that even modest donations can make a meaningful difference for affected families.
The acting High Commissioner thanked the government and people of Seychelles for their swift gesture of solidarity, adding that the assistance will go towards providing food, clean water, shelter, and medical supplies to the hardest-hit communities.
