VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) has marked International Volunteer Day with a visit to the Plaisance Home for the Elderly, in an event that brought together volunteers, staff, and members of the community. Volunteers donated blankets, pillows, pillowcases, and other essential items to the home, as part of the RCSS’s ongoing support for vulnerable groups.
During the ceremony, the national society used the occasion to thank volunteers for their dedication and to reflect on the role volunteers have played, especially in supporting the elderly and other vulnerable members of society. The Secretary General of the Red Cross said the contributions of volunteers are central to the work of the national society, and to the country’s broader humanitarian efforts.
The Plaisance Home for the Elderly expressed gratitude for the support and for the continued partnership with the RCSS. The RCSS reaffirmed its commitment to working with communities, partners, and volunteers to support those in need, and to promote a culture of care, compassion, and solidarity across Seychelles.
