Young Seychellois Honoured at Duke of Edinburgh International Award Ceremony

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Young Seychellois have been honoured at a ceremony to mark the successful completion of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programme, in recognition of their dedication, perseverance, and the skills they have developed through the programme. The award is a world-renowned initiative designed to empower young people, develop their practical and social skills, and encourage them to contribute to their communities.

Among the recipients, Fleuri, who started the programme several months ago, received her certificate and pin after completing the various components of the award, from camping and engagement to physical skills and community service. ‘This programme has helped me to be responsible, confident, and engaged,’ she said, describing the journey as a difficult but rewarding one.

Minister for Youth, Sports and Family Kalsey Belle congratulated the silver and bronze award recipients, and commended the Seychelles National Youth Council for its work in supporting the programme. The ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of young Seychellois and to encourage more young people to take part in the International Award programme.
