Absa Bank and Tourism Academy Cook Up Kreole-Style Movember Fundraiser

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Absa Bank Seychelles’ newly launched Men’s Forum partnered with the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) to host a vibrant Creole cookoff on Friday November 28, bringing together male and female staff from the bank and culinary students from the academy in a spirited Movember celebration.

The challenge was to prepare a blind five-course Creole-inspired menu honouring the country’s cultural heritage while testing teamwork, creativity, and technical skill. The students, serving as sous-chefs, applied their training in real time, guided newcomers through the traditions of Seychellois cuisine. Chef Ryan Marie of STA supervised the menu development and the cookoff itself, praising the speed at which the Absa teams adapted to a new environment.

Absa’s commercial director and patron of the Men at the Core initiative, Vincent Otim, said the activity was designed to support male staff and challenge stereotypes. The event was a follow-up to a prior launch and a series of awareness activities marking Movember, with proceeds and engagement set to continue into the coming weeks.
