UAE-Seychelles Relations Celebrated at 54th Eid Al Etihad, Attended by President Herminie

The President of the Republic, Dr. Patrick Herminie, attended the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebration of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), held yesterday, Thursday 27th November, at the Savoy Resort and Spa, Beau Vallon. This national event, celebrated under the theme “United,” highlighted the values of unity and cooperation within Emirati society and commemorated the historic day of 2nd December, 1971, when the seven Emirates joined under one flag to form the United Arab Emirates.

In his remarks to mark the occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the UAE, Mr. Ahmed Saeed Alneyadi, highlighted the UAE’s ongoing commitment to climate action, including agreements supporting renewable energy and sustainable practices such as the “Water for Agriculture Challenge” launched in 2025 to promote water-saving technologies in agriculture. He attributed these achievements to the UAE leadership’s forward-thinking vision focused on human development, innovation, and sustainability.

Mr. Alneyadi also highlighted the UAE’s continued engagement in climate action, including agreements that support renewable energy and sustainable practices such as the “Water for Agriculture Challenge” launched in 2025, which promotes innovative water-saving technologies in agriculture. He added that these achievements stem from the UAE leadership’s forward-thinking vision that prioritizes human development, innovation, and sustainability. He concluded by congratulating Dr. Patrick Herminie on his election as President of the Republic of Seychelles.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, expressed Seychelles’ appreciation for the UAE’s ongoing support in various sectors and highlighted the progress in bilateral cooperation through digital and educational initiatives. He also announced the selection of ten primary schools for the first phase of the UAE Digital Learning Initiative, marking a significant step towards Seychelles’ digitalisation goals. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of strengthening diplomatic ties and exploring new areas of collaboration to benefit both nations. He concluded by calling for unity and solidarity to foster mutual growth and shared success.
