Her Excellency Mrs. Martha Hernandez Caneiro, Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Seychelles, paid a farewell call on President Dr. Patrick Herminie at State House on Tuesday afternoon, marking the conclusion of her four-year tenure.
President Herminie extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Caneiro and expressed his sincere gratitude for the enduring bilateral ties between Seychelles and Cuba.
“Our friendship goes a long way,” President Herminie noted. “As sister nations, we remain committed to expanding our bilateral relations and exploring new areas of cooperation that will benefit both our peoples.”
Ambassador Caneiro expressed her profound honour at having served in this diplomatic post and commended the exceptional relationship between Seychelles and Cuba, which has flourished during her tenure.
The discussions centered on key areas of cooperation, including medicine and sports, as well as the possibility of reopening the Seychelles Embassy in Cuba to further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
H.E. Martha Hernandez Caneiro is the 12th Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Seychelles.
Also present at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Mr. Barry Faure, Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Mr. Ian Madeleine, Director of Bilateral Affairs Ms. Lindy Ernesta, and Desk Officer Ms. Elsa Lepathy.
