VICTORIA, Seychelles — The National Council for Children (NCC) has launched a time capsule project with schools across Seychelles, in an initiative that brought together students from Bel Eau, Grande Anse Praslin, Anse Royale, School of the Seychelles, and Bel Ombre. The project, which forms part of the NCC’s ongoing work to promote the rights and well-being of children, was marked by an event at which students contributed their wishes and drawings for the future.
Officers of the NCC came up with the idea of a time capsule to capture the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of Seychellois children at this moment in the country’s history. The capsule will be opened in years to come, providing a unique record of childhood in Seychelles in 2025. Students were encouraged to reflect on their aspirations and to contribute to a national project.
‘We at the NCC are a guardian of the rights of children, and this is one of the ways we ensure that their voices are heard and remembered,’ said Mrs Umarji, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of the Knights of St John. The schools and partners thanked the NCC for the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting the rights of children.
