VICTORIA, Seychelles — World Diabetes Day, observed annually on November 14, was marked in Seychelles with a focus on the importance of physical activity in the fight against diabetes. The event, which was held under the theme ‘Diabetes and Well-Being Across Life Stages’, brought together students from English River secondary school, health professionals, and members of the public.
Health officials used the occasion to highlight the need for comprehensive action to prevent and manage diabetes, with a focus on healthy lifestyles, regular exercise, and balanced nutrition. The event also included free blood sugar testing, information sessions, and demonstrations of physical activities suitable for people living with diabetes.
Representatives of various organisations on Praslin joined the awareness campaign, with a session held under the theme ‘Diabetes and the Workplace’. Praslin Hospital and partner organisations expressed their commitment to continue working together to raise awareness and to support people living with diabetes across the islands.
