President Herminie Presents Ministerial Portfolios in Special Cabinet Meeting

In a special Cabinet meeting held Thursday afternoon following the swearing-in ceremony, President Patrick Herminie officially assigned portfolio responsibilities to members of his newly appointed Cabinet.

The meeting marked the beginning of the new government’s mandate, with President Herminie expressing deep honour in leading a team dedicated to national service. “It is both an honour and a pleasure to have you as part of this team,” he said. “Your acceptance of this responsibility demonstrates your unwavering commitment to serving the people of Seychelles.”

During the session, each minister was formally presented with their respective portfolios as the President outlined the government’s priorities and expectations for effective and accountable leadership.

President Herminie will directly lead the Department of Defence, Department of Legal Affairs, and Department of Public Administration. He will also have direct responsibility for the Agency for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation and the Mental Health Care Agency.

Vice President Sebastien Pillay has been assigned a broad modernization and infrastructure portfolio, directing the Department of Information Communication Technology, the Department of Digital Transformation, and the Department of Information. His responsibilities also extend to the Department of Lands, Department of Housing, Seychelles Infrastructure Agency, Poverty Alleviation, and the Department of Risk and Disaster Management.

Minister Wallace Cosgrow will lead the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Blue Economy, driving the nation’s food security and blue economy agenda.

Minister Pierre Laporte will head the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment, shaping national fiscal and economic policy.

Minister Marie-May Jeremie will direct the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources, reaffirming the government’s focus on environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Minister Barry Faure will lead the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, strengthening Seychelles’ international partnerships and engagement with its diaspora.

Minister Veronique Laporte will head the Ministry of Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation, guiding the continued development of transport infrastructure and national connectivity.

Minister Marvin Fanny has been appointed Minister of Health, responsible for policy, planning, and regulation in the health sector.

Minister Amanda Bernstein will lead the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, which includes the Departments of Tourism and of Culture, Art and National Heritage.

Minister Idith Alexander will head the Ministry of Employment and Human Resource Planning, focusing on workforce development and labour relations.

Minister David Pierre will direct the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, shaping quality education and skills advancement.

Minister Kalsey Belle will lead the Ministry of Youth and Sports, promoting youth empowerment and sporting excellence.

Minister James Camille will head the Ministry of Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, directing internal security, immigration, public safety, prisons, police, and fire and rescue services.

Minister Eveline Rose will lead the Ministry of Local Government and Inner Islands, advancing decentralized governance and island development.

Minister Geralda Desaubin will direct the Ministry of Industry and Enterprise, promoting entrepreneurship and industrial growth.

The portfolio allocations reflect a balanced and strategic approach to governance, addressing key national priorities, economic growth, social development, sustainability, digital transformation, infrastructure advancement, and national security.

The Cabinet will hold regular sessions to advance the government’s agenda and ensure the continued progress and prosperity of the Republic of Seychelles and its people.
