President Patrick Herminie today presided over the swearing-in ceremony of fourteen Ministers at State House, marking the beginning of a new era of governance founded on integrity, transparency, and dedicated service to the nation.
During the ceremony, each Minister took three oaths before the President of the Republic: The Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution, the Minister’s Oath, and the Oath of Secrecy.
The newly sworn-in Cabinet members are, Mr. Wallace Cosgrow, Ambassador Barry Faure, Mr. Pierre Laporte, Ms. Idith Alexander, Mrs. Pamela Charlette, Dr. Marvin Fanny, Mr. David Pierre, Mrs. Marie-May Jeremie, Ms. Veronique Laporte, Mr. James Camille, Ms. Geralda Desaubin, Ms. Eveline Rose, Mrs. Amanda Bernstein, and Ms. Kalsey Belle. All ministerial nominations were approved by the National Assembly between 30 October and 5 November 2025.
Addressing the ceremony, President Herminie described the event as “more than a formality, a solemn covenant to serve the Seychellois people with honesty, humility, and purpose.” He reminded the Ministers that their appointment represents a duty to serve rather than a privilege of power, and urged them to uphold the values of justice, compassion, and fairness in their leadership.
“We are entrusted with the hopes of a nation. Leadership must never be about self-interest, but about service and the common good,” the President said. President Herminie outlined his administration’s vision for inclusive and accountable governance, highlighting key areas of partnership and reform:
- Private Sector Engagement: A Productivity Pact promoting investment, innovation, and fair wages.
- Civil Society Collaboration: Enhanced government support for faith-based and community organizations assisting vulnerable populations.
- Local Government Empowerment: Devolution of resources to strengthen community-level decision-making.
- International Relations: Pragmatic diplomacy aimed at boosting investment, security cooperation, and climate action.
Reaffirming his zero-tolerance stance on corruption, President Herminie announced that all Ministers, along with their spouses and immediate family members, will be required to submit comprehensive asset declarations.
He further pledged that the Cabinet will foster a culture of openness, including media accessibility and regular public progress reporting.
“We will be honest about our achievements and our shortcomings. That is how trust is built, and how democracy thrives,” the President declared.
In conclusion, President Herminie urged the newly appointed Ministers to embody professionalism, discipline, and integrity throughout their tenure.
“Today, you have made your families proud. Now, you have five years to make the Seychellois people proud,” he said.
The solemn ceremony featured a moving reflection, poem recital and a patriotic performance, celebrating the spirit of national pride and unity.
The event concluded with an official photograph and a reception in honour of the new Cabinet.
