Ministry and Rotary Club of Victoria Host Special Spa Day for Elderly Citizens

VICTORIA, Seychelles — To commemorate the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Family, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Victoria, organised a special spa day for elderly citizens on Friday at the ‘Day at the Spa’ centre at the Aarti Chambers, in Victoria.

Among those present to welcome the seniors were the division’s director general, Rosa Morin; the director for the Disabled, Marco Gerry; the director general of Quality of Life within the Family Affairs department, Christopher Adelaide; and the President of the Rotary Club of Victoria, Ranjan Orphee.

Germaine Gill, chairperson of the Senior Association, expressed the gratitude of the senior citizens towards the Family department. ‘It is rare for elderly individuals to experience pampering or visit a spa, particularly at this stage in life when mobility can be a challenge. However, we are extremely pleased to have been afforded this opportunity, as it demonstrates a genuine commitment to ensuring the well-being of our elderly citizens,’ she said.

Mr Gerry said the event emphasises the need to ensure that both the physical and emotional well-being of elderly citizens are looked after. ‘It was fitting to host them on the International Day of Older Persons to show they are not overlooked and they too deserve to be indulged,’ he noted. Mr Orphee from the Rotary Club of Victoria said the organisation’s motto, ‘Unite to do good’, aligns perfectly with the event. The Rotary Club will host a second group of six seniors on October 7, bringing the total to twelve.
