VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Chinese embassy hosted a reception on Tuesday evening to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, with President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan among the dignitaries in attendance.
Vice-President Ahmed Afif and his wife Stella Afif, members of the diplomatic corps and other distinguished guests were also present at the event, held at the Chinese ambassador’s new residence, Panda House, in Sans Soucis. The reception offered a setting for cultural exchange between the two countries.
In her remarks, Chinese ambassador to Seychelles Lin Nan highlighted that relations between China and Seychelles have maintained a strong momentum of rapid development over the past year, with mutual political trust reaching new heights. She noted ongoing cooperation across development, diplomacy and cultural exchange, and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to deepening ties with Victoria in the years ahead.
The evening formed part of a wider programme of events marking the anniversary, which the embassy said is being used to strengthen cultural and people-to-people links. Both sides used the occasion to underline the importance of their longstanding partnership and to signal continued engagement across the full range of bilateral issues.
