French Ambassador Bids Farewell to Seychelles Foreign Affairs Minister Radegonde

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The excellent bilateral relations and the various areas of cooperation between France and Seychelles were at the centre of talks held on Thursday between the Ambassador of France to Seychelles, Mrs Olivia Berkeley-Christmann, in farewell mission, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy in Mont Fleuri.

Ambassador Berkeley-Christmann expressed her gratitude to Minister Radegonde and the team at the Department of Foreign Affairs for the close collaboration that has marked her three-year tenure in Seychelles. For his part, Minister Radegonde welcomed the quality of the relations between the two countries and thanked France for its constant support to Seychelles, particularly in the areas of maritime security, training and defence. Both parties underlined the excellence of the bilateral ties and noted the many existing opportunities to broaden them further.

They concluded by reaffirming their shared conviction that the solid and fruitful partnership between Seychelles and France will continue to strengthen and reach new heights under the impetus of the newly designated ambassador. The visit marks the end of Ambassador Berkeley-Christmann’s three-year assignment in Seychelles, during which she oversaw a deepening of cooperation in the blue economy, climate change adaptation, education and cultural exchange.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press communiqué confirming the meeting. The Seychelles-France relationship is one of the longest-standing in the Indian Ocean region, with cooperation spanning security, education, trade, tourism and climate.
