Minister Derjacques Hails Discover Airlines Approval as New Milestone

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, has welcomed news of the recent approval issued by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) for the commencement of flights by Discover Airlines, scheduled to begin in October. The Minister described the milestone as another success in the ministry’s ongoing efforts to secure new operators on the Seychelles route over recent years.

With the addition of Discover Airlines, Seychelles will have a total of new carriers conducting international flights by the end of October, an augmentation of seat capacity on the route that the Minister said represents an increase over the previous year. Discover Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, is set to commence scheduled flights from Frankfurt to Seychelles on Monday October 27, 2025, operating twice weekly using an Airbus A330 with a capacity of 310 passengers.

The approval was made possible through the updated Air Transport Agreement between the Republic of Seychelles and the Federal Republic of Germany, signed during the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event in Kuala Lumpur in October 2024. The Minister said the latest approval reflects the government’s continued work to diversify the country’s air connectivity and to bring more visitors to Seychelles at a time when the tourism industry is recovering. The new route is expected to provide direct access between Europe and Seychelles and to bring economic benefits to the country.
