SIT and UniSey Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic Pathways

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Graduates of the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) will now be able to pursue further studies at the University of Seychelles (UniSey) following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions on Tuesday morning. The MoU is intended to strengthen academic pathways, technical collaboration and shared use of facilities.

The agreement was signed at SIT headquarters in Providence by UniSey Vice-Chancellor Joëlle Perreau and SIT director Ferdinand Desnousse, witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Development, Robin Zarine, and SIT deputy director Michel Edmond. According to VC Perreau, the MoU opens the door for SIT staff to use UniSey as a training venue while allowing the institution to provide its expertise and services to the university.

Potential areas of collaboration include research, pathway development, internships, joint projects and thematic seminars. Mr Desnousse said SIT and UniSey were already collaborating informally, with several SIT staff having trained at the university. “It is a stepping stone between SIT, through UniSey, with the other universities overseas,” he stated. The agreement is expected to benefit students and staff at both institutions.
