CJSOI Secretary General Praises Quality of Seychelles’ Hosting

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Secretary General of the Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien (CJSOI), Ashok Cheetamun, has given a positive assessment of the recently concluded 13th edition of the CJSOI Games, praising the quality of preparation and organisation delivered by Seychelles. In an interview published on Wednesday, Mr Cheetamun said Seychelles had clearly demonstrated its capacity to host a regional event of this scale.

“We knew without a doubt that the Seychelles had the capacity to organise such an event. They had already organised two editions of the Jeux des Iles de l’Océan Indien in the past,” he noted. Mr Cheetamun added that the friendly atmosphere and the values of sharing and fraternity among the young people of the Indian Ocean had shone throughout the games, and that the momentum created should benefit youth sport in the region for years to come.

Mr Cheetamun also said the work undertaken by the coaches, sports leaders and ministers of the host country had been notable, and that the young athletes who took part would certainly go on to become high-level competitors in the years ahead. He confirmed that the Comoros will host the next edition of the Jeux des Iles de l’Océan Indien in 2027, with Djibouti taking the 15th edition in 2029.
