Seychelles Swimmers Continue Medal Run on Day Five of 13th CJSOI Games

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychellois swimmer Angela Smythe has won another gold medal in the 50m backstroke at the 13th CJSOI Games, bringing her personal tally to four golds in the swimming competition. Smythe won the 200m backstroke in 2:31.41, finishing ahead of Réunion’s Julie Cazal (2:32.95) and Tess Martinez (2:38.25).

Smythe then teamed up with Dorianne Bristol, Keira Berlouis and Chloé Arnephy to take third place in the relay, while Bristol gave Seychelles another bronze medal in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:56.32. In athletics, the Seychelles para-sports team shone on the first day of competition, with Liam Denys and Auria Barbe winning the first two gold medals in athletics for Seychelles.

On the second day, Verney Joubert won the gold medal in the 100m event, continuing the strong performance of the Seychellois delegation. The medal haul reflects the depth of talent and the hard work of the athletes and their coaches in the lead-up to the Games, with the athletics competition expected to continue producing podium finishes in the coming days.
