IECD Launches First Childminders’ Excellence Award to Recognise Early Childhood Professionals

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles will for the first time this year host the Childminders’ Excellence Award. The award was launched yesterday morning by the Institute of Early Childhood Development, IECD, in the Unescos category 5, during a press conference at its headquarters in Fairview House, Ile Perseverance, where the award’s logo was also unveiled.

Speaking at the launch, Mrs Choppy highlighted the importance of recognising the contributions of childminders to early childhood development in Seychelles. The IECD has been working to professionalise the early childhood sector and to raise the standards of care provided to young children across the country. The Childminders’ Excellence Award is part of these efforts to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of childminders who play a vital role in the early years of children’s lives.

The award is open to all registered childminders in Seychelles, with categories for different age groups and types of services. Winners will be announced at a ceremony later this year, with the IECD planning to make the award an annual feature on the early childhood development calendar. The launch was attended by representatives of partner organisations, childminders and officials from the Ministry of Education.
