
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Swimmer Angelina Smythe has continued her impressive performance at the 13th CJSOI Games, adding to her medal collection with strong finishes in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly. The young Seychellois swimmer has now won multiple individual gold medals, withstanding pressure from regional rivals in a series of exciting races at the swimming complex.
Speaking after her races, Smythe thanked her coaches, family and supporters for their encouragement and noted that the competition had been a valuable learning experience. The swimming events at the CJSOI Games have showcased the depth of talent across the Indian Ocean region, with athletes from Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, La Réunion and Mayotte competing in a range of events.
Seychelles’ performance in the pool has been a highlight of the Games so far, with several other swimmers also recording personal bests and securing podium finishes. The Seychellois swimming federation has welcomed the results as a positive sign for the future of the sport in the country, with continued investment in training and development programmes expected to build on the success of the current generation of swimmers.
