VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles and India have held follow-up talks aimed at strengthening cooperation in hydrography, with discussions focusing on data sharing and the importance of continued collaboration between the two coastal nations. The meeting, attended by representatives of the Seychelles Hydrographic Committee, explored avenues for technical exchanges and capacity building.
With the cooperation of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority and other agencies, both sides emphasised the importance of regular dialogue and the sharing of best practices in hydrographic surveying, nautical charting and ocean data management. Officials noted that for island states like Seychelles, the safety, security and uninterrupted flow of maritime routes depend on accurate and updated hydrographic information.
The talks build on previous engagements between the two countries and reflect a growing recognition that maritime safety is a shared responsibility. Participants agreed to maintain regular contact and to identify specific projects that could benefit from joint work in the coming months, with the Seychelles Coast Guard and other agencies expected to play an active role.
