Praslin Centre for Exceptional Child Gets Fresh New Look From SIF

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Praslin Centre for the Exceptional Child has a more welcoming and brighter look, thanks to a fresh new coat of paint given to the centre by the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF), as part of its giveback programme. A group of SIF staff came to the centre, located at the Baie Sainte Anne primary school, earlier this week to give it a fresh new look.

Speaking to the media, the site manager of Vallée de Mai, Marc Jean-Baptiste, said this activity forms part of SIF’s giveback programme. ‘We make it our duty to come and help the centre, whether it is in terms of infrastructure or education materials. The centre needed a bit of repair. We also got the chance to help put out fires when there were fire incidents in the forest,’ he said, adding that SIF also joined hands with other partners to install photovoltaic panels on the school’s roof.

Head teacher Monique Lesperance thanked SIF, Mr Jean-Baptiste and the team from Vallée de Mai for their time, dedication and assistance. ‘We are truly grateful to SIF because this centre really needed a fresh coat of paint, and we know that the students and teachers will be very happy to see their centre with a new look,’ she added. The Praslin Centre for the Exceptional Child was officially opened on June 6, 2008 by the then Minister for Education Bernard Shamlaye.
