Health Champions Cup Returns to School Athletics Competition

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Health Champions Cup is being reintroduced at this year’s School Athletics Competition, taking place tomorrow at Stad Linite. The announcement was made yesterday by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Education during a press conference at the Red Roof Building, in line with the national ‘Stop Obesity’ campaign.

The Health Champions Cup is an initiative to promote and reward healthy behaviours during the Schools Athletics Competition, and aims to encourage healthy eating, physical and mental well-being, and hydration among students. Officials said the Cup will help embed healthy habits into the school sports calendar at a time when childhood obesity and related non-communicable diseases are a growing concern.

The Ministry of Health said the Cup will recognise not only athletic performance but also the schools and students who display the strongest commitment to wellness throughout the competition. The Ministry of Education confirmed that the 45th edition of the Schools Athletics Competition will involve thousands of pupils from across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
