VICTORIA, Seychelles — The first of five seasonal chartered flights connecting Chengdu, China, to the islands of Seychelles touched down at Pointe Larue International Airport at 11.50 a.m. yesterday, July 2, 2025, carrying 143 passengers and 14 crew members. To mark the occasion, the inaugural flight was welcomed with a traditional cultural performance organised by Tourism Seychelles.
The new seasonal route is set to operate five chartered flights throughout July 2025, on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. The service, announced by the Chinese embassy in Seychelles earlier in June, is the result of months of negotiations and cooperation between the government of Seychelles, the Chinese embassy, and key stakeholders across the tourism and transport sectors.
Officials hope the seasonal service will strengthen people-to-people ties and provide a timely boost to mid-year arrivals. Tourism Seychelles said it will work with partners on the ground to ensure a smooth experience for visitors throughout the charter period.
