Pirates Arms Rises Again: Foundation Work Underway, Completion Expected by Late 2026

One of Victoria’s most iconic landmarks is steadily rising from its dusty past. The long-anticipated redevelopment of the Pirates Arms complex is now in full swing, with foundation works progressing and concrete finally being poured on-site as of last Friday.

The update was delivered by Nisreen Abdul Majid, CEO of the Seychelles Pension Fund (SPF), during a recent press conference tied to the submission of the SPF’s Annual Report to the Ministry of Finance.

“The site is active, the team is mobilised, and we’re now entering a critical phase of the build,” Majid confirmed. “We expect full completion by the end of 2026.”

Once a bustling social and commercial hub at the heart of Victoria, Pirates Arms had become a ghost of its former self—until SPF stepped in with an ambitious redevelopment plan. The new design promises to blend modern commercial spaces with public amenities, potentially restoring the complex to its status as a vibrant city landmark.

For now, expect some heavy machinery and construction dust—but by 2026, Seychelles may once again have a central gathering point worthy of its history.
