VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Business Studies Academy marked a milestone this year with the first cohort to graduate from its newly introduced certificate in administrative skills, a pathway designed for students who aspire to join SBSA but do not yet meet the requirements for the diploma programmes. Speaking at the graduation ceremony at the International Conference Centre, SBSA director Josianne Bristol said 15 learners from that initial programme successfully progressed to the diploma business management and administration stream, and four of them graduated with distinction.
The certificate in administrative skills, which was introduced in 2024, also offers a course called ‘Start Your Business Planning’ to both part-time and full-time students. This year’s graduation was the best in the academy’s history, with 46 students obtaining a distinction across all programmes. Top achievers recognised at the ceremony included Laura Ally, who received the Medal of Academic Excellence for the Diploma in Human Resource, and Ruth Canaya, who received the Governing Board Award for the Diploma in Accounting and Finance.
SBSA’s leadership said the new certificate programme is part of a broader effort to widen access to tertiary business education in Seychelles and to provide more flexible pathways for students entering the job market. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to equipping Seychellois with practical skills, professional qualifications, and the confidence to contribute to the country’s economic development.
