VICTORIA, Seychelles — Carlos Payet has been awarded the President’s Cup for the 2022–2024 cohort of the Seychelles Business Studies Academy, completing his Diploma in Business Management and Administration among 194 other graduates. The cup is awarded to the graduate who excels in academics and demonstrates outstanding character, serving as a positive role model and representing the institution with enthusiasm and dedication.
Carlos received his award from President Wavel Ramkalawan during the graduation ceremony at the International Conference Centre. ‘It was something that was on my mind and I was expecting it but I’m still very emotional. I’m proud of myself; it’s a big accomplishment for me,’ he said, adding that it was a great challenge requiring sacrifices. He plans to further his studies at university level.
In her opening remarks, SBSA director Josianne Bristol noted that this is the best graduated class, with 46 students graduating with a distinction. Yesterday’s ceremony also recognised top achievers across programmes: Medal of Academic Excellence went to Laura Ally from Diploma in Human Resource; Governing Board Awards went to Jah-kellah Poris and Ruth Canaya; and Most Outstanding Performer awards were presented across all diploma streams. The new certificate in administrative skills, introduced in 2025, attracted 15 learners who successfully joined the diploma programme, with four of them graduating with distinction.
