VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Prison Service has confirmed that Windsor Telemaque, who recently escaped from the Montagne Posée Prison facility, was found and arrested in Montagne Posée and brought back to the prison facility yesterday. In a press release issued yesterday, the Prison Service said that upon his return, Mr Telemaque was immediately taken into custody and is currently undergoing the necessary procedures as outlined by their protocols.
The Prison Service added that Mr Telemaque’s escape raised concerns within the community, and the authorities are grateful for the vigilance of citizens who remained alert during this time. The safety and security of the community remain the top priority, and the Prison Service appreciated the support of local law enforcement and the public during the incident. A thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the escape is being conducted to ensure such incidents do not reoccur.
The recapture brings to a close an episode that had raised significant public concern about the security of the country’s main correctional facility. The Montagne Posée Prison has long served as the principal detention site for individuals convicted of serious offences, and any escape from its grounds inevitably draws attention to the protocols in place to prevent such events. The Prison Service has indicated that further details on measures being implemented will be made public in due course.
