
VICTORIA, Seychelles — MIOT International, a leading healthcare institution in Chennai, India, is currently hosting the Indo-German Orthopaedic Foundation Master Course in Shoulder and Knee, bringing together experts and participants from across the globe. The three-day workshop, which draws participants from South Korea, Germany, Singapore, Austria, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, the Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Sierra Leone and Fiji, aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists in the latest advancements in shoulder and knee treatment.
Around 180 participants, including 40 overseas delegates, are in attendance, making the workshop an influential gathering for orthopaedic professionals. The event, organised by MIOT International, provides a platform for professional growth and international exchange in the field of orthopaedics. Among the participants are five Seychellois professionals: Dr Brian Antoine (orthopaedic surgeon), Dr Thelma Betsy (Post Graduate Resident in Orthopaedics), and physiotherapists Anne Marie Ferley, Nevis Vinda and Nadia Valentin.
One of the standout contributions to modern orthopaedics being discussed during the course is MIOT Hospital’s introduction of the Computer-Navigated Total Knee Replacement (CNTKR) procedure, which helps surgeons balance ligaments and place knee prostheses with zero error, ensuring better alignment and improving the overall longevity of the joint. The conference also highlights the critical role of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation process for shoulder and knee surgeries. The combination of world-class education and practical learning ensures that professionals attending the event leave with enhanced skills and a deeper understanding of the latest orthopaedic techniques.
