VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) and the University of Seychelles (UniSey) signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday aimed at deepening cooperation on academic programmes, research and skills development.
The agreement was signed by UniSey vice-chancellor Joëlle Perreau and SNYC chief executive Albert Duncan at the Anse Royale campus, witnessed by senior compliance officer François Magloire and Dean of the Faculty of Art and Social Development Dr Justin Zelime. Under the MoU, the two institutions will jointly organise forums, seminars, conferences, workshops and internship opportunities, and will share information, materials and campus resources at both the Mont Fleuri and Anse Royale sites.
Mr Duncan said the formalisation of the partnership has been in the works for some time, citing previous collaboration on professionalisation of youth work and shared facilities at Anse Royale. ‘We constantly collaborate with our strategic partners for resources and experience, while we try to do what is best for our youth,’ he said. Ms Perreau described the signing as ‘both an honour and a proud moment’, noting that the partnership will allow the university to draw on SNYC’s networks, including the Commonwealth and the Association of Francophone Universities. Both parties said they are already exploring specific projects for the year ahead.
