VICTORIA, Seychelles — A citizen of Seychelles has published a public notice warning against any transactions, agreements or sales of family properties in Ma Joie, citing an ongoing legal dispute. Rajesh Kanna, who identifies himself using his national identity number, said he is the rightful heir of his father, Radjacobal Chettiyar, alongside his brother, R. Vinod Kanna, following the death of their mother, R. Sasikala, in 2018.
According to the notice, Mr Kanna’s father is currently involved in a murder case in an Indian court related to the death of Mr Kanna’s younger brother, R. Vinodh Kanna. Mr Kanna said that, instead of cooperating with the Indian court, his father allegedly deceived the Indian authorities and travelled illegally to Seychelles. Mr Kanna claims that an Indian national named Raja Selvam arrived in Seychelles on January 10, 2025 on a visitor’s permit, falsely claiming to be a legal heir of the family.
The notice states that Mr Selvam has been engaging in various activities related to the family ‘À«iÀÌÞ -iÞV i i° Ì Ã Ài}]>À`] >Ûi w i`> «À«iÀÌÞ restriction case in the Seychelles court through Mr Kanna’s lawyer. The notice asks that no one conduct any transactions, agreements, or sales of the family’s properties without the consent of the legitimate heirs. The case raises questions about the verification of legal heirs and property rights in cross-border inheritance disputes involving foreign nationals.
