VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) has received a generous donation of a Ford Ranger vehicle from car dealer Oceanic Motors Proprietary Limited. The vehicle was officially handed over to the voluntary organisation at the Oceanic Motors showroom in Providence on Friday afternoon.
Sales and marketing manager Giselle Pucheokchuen explained that the company decided to make its first ever corporate social responsibility donation to the RCSS as one of the ways to share its successes over recent years. The vehicle, valued at around R900,000, will be instrumental in the RCSS’s efforts to mobilise aid during emergency situations, including distributing food items to different communities.
Secretary general of the RCSS Marie-May Esparon, who accepted the vehicle, described the donation as a dream come true, noting that it will facilitate the organisation’s day-to-day operations. She added that the donation is a first step in strengthening the relationship between Oceanic Motors and the RCSS, with both organisations working to formalise ties through a memorandum of understanding that will enable the company to benefit from training and capacity-building opportunities.
